Portuguese businessman detained in Spain for building drug boats
By IBI Magazine
A Portuguese businessman was arrested in Spain last week, and charged with being the "main supplier of superboats" for drug trafficking rings between the Iberian Peninsula and Northern Africa. According to a story on the Portugal News, police would only identify the businessman as "Carlos AP", but said that he has a facility in Cerdal, Valenca that builds speedboats for drug runners. The invesigation, which was carried out by the Guardia Civil de Pontevedra (Galiza, Spain) and the GNR of Valença (Portugal), also resulted in the arrest of four Spanish citizens. The year-long police investigation claims that Carlos AP, who has no criminal convictions, built 25 speedboats for drug running between Morocco and Barcelona to carry hashish. The boats were powered by five high-horsepower outboards.
