ISS announces superyacht design winners

The International Superyacht Society today announced the winners from its design awards program. The awards were scheduled to be given out at the Ft. Lauderdale International Boat Show, but were postponed until the Miami show because of Hurricane Wilma. About 400 guests from all areas of the large yacht industry attended the ceremony. Show Management, the Robb Report, and The Yacht Report were all sponsors. The awards are given to yacht builders, designers, interior designers, naval architects and stylists selected from a shortlist of five finalist yachts in five length categories. In addition to awards given to three power yachts and two sailing vessels, best interior awards are also given for each yachting discipline. The selections are made by ISS members. ISS also recognises one of the large yacht industry's most important figures with its Leadership Award. For 2005, the award was presented to Peter Lürssen, chairman of Lürssen Yachts. The winner in the 23m-36m "Best Sail" category was Paraiso, built by Alloy Yachts International and designed by the Fontaine Design Group. Best Sail for above 36m was Athena, built by Royal Huisman and designed by Pieter Beeldsnijder. This yacht also won the Best Sail Interior award. The winner for Best Power, 23m-32m was Tigre D'or II, which was built by Hakvoort Shipyard and designed by Howard and Horsfield. The naval architect firm was Yripack Yachting Intl. The World is Not Enough won the 32m-43m award. It was built by Millennium Super Yachts and designed by Mulder Design. Evan K. Marshall was the naval architect. Winner in the Best Power 43m-plus was Ilona, built by Amels Holland and Designed by Redman, Whiteley. The Best Power Interior was Ecstasea by Feadship, and designed by Terence Disdale.
